AJ Lee retires / Where does she rank all-time?

Unless you’re living under a rock the weekend, WWE announced that AJ Lee retired. AJ Lee love has showered all over the Internet so I thought about where she ranks among the WWE Divas.

Let’s go thru a quick timeline……

Obviously, most people under the age of 21 don’t remember legends like Fabolous Moolah and Mae Young who are basically always in the top 5 of diva talk. These ladies dominated the golden age of wrestling. Moolah was the face of women’s wrestling for decades.

Then you have Alundra Blayze, the start of the New Generation. Who took on not so great talent (Bull Nakano & Big Bertha) but was super athletic and a very likeable talent.

Then you head into the Attitude Era with Sable, Sunny & Chyna headlining that class with most women being managers and women wrestling almost nonexistent after the infamous Monday Night War moment of Alundra Blayze trashing the WWF Women’s Champion.

With females become more and more involved in the ring. The women’s title came back saw the great rivalry between Trish Stratus & Lita. Taking women’s wrestling to new highs and bringing in the Divas that you see today.

Now you head into the now. The past 5 years, AJ Lee has been all over the divas division and the centerpiece in a lot of rivalries. In her short time, she was multi-time divas champion, Raw GM and valet to multiple World Champions. She took the current divas to another level and stood out with a crazy girl character. She was a fan of the business so she appreciated it more than some who just used it as a small stepping stone.

It’s kinda sad to see the potential long term rivalry that friends AJ Lee & also retired Kaitlyn could’ve been. It could’ve been as big as Trish & Lita.

Of course, we don’t know what lead to AJ Lee’s retirement. Speculation of the fallout between the company and her husband, CM Punk, or her recent neck injury haven’t been proven as the reason for her retirement. We’ll just have to wait for her to say something.

But now back to my ranking, AJ Lee ranks in the top 10 of all time divas. With the ladies that I mentioned earlier in this post and I also include Sensational Sherri, Miss Elizabeth and passing Luna Vachon for the 10th spot.

If AJ Lee decides to come out of retirement, she could’ve definitely move up in my rankings.

Where do you rank AJ Lee on the all time Diva list?

Wrestlemania 31 Predictions

It’s that time of year again.

The wrestling equivalent of the Super Bowl.

My Wrestlemania childhood saw the rise of a showstopper, the excellence of execution, a king of kings, a rattlesnake’s dominance, an electrifying champ, and a decade of tombstones.

No longer a child and understanding the business of entertainment, I still enjoy the athleticism of professional wrestling aka sports entertainment.

It was only fitting that my first full article would be about the showcase of immortals.

A place where Hulkmania and Yesmania have ran wild.

The show that has seen the end of fueds and the beginning of epic rivalries continues tonight at Levi Stadium, the home of the San Francisco 49ers.

With fans screaming about how this year’s build was terrible and their favorite wrestler isn’t getting his spot, the show will still be seen by millions of people.

Let’s get to my predictions….

Wrestlemania Kickoff

Fatal Four Way – WWE Tag Team Title

Cesaro/Kidd (Champions) vs The New Day vs The Usos vs Los Matadores

This will be destruction derby. Bodies flying everywhere.

Prediction: Cesaro/Kidd remain champions

Wrestlemania Kickoff – Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal

Moved to the pre-show this week due to time constraints (Got to make time for Randy Orton, Undertaker, Bray Wyatt & Triple H’s entrances), I believe this will be a fun match.

I believe the Battle Royal should be a launch pad for a superstar. Something the WWE dropped the ball with last year with Cesaro. I hope they redeem themselves this year.

Prediction: Ryback (Unless Sheamus returns. Then that changes everything)

My sleeper pick was Mizdow. But I do expect Mizdow to finally give Miz what he has deserved.

Randy Orton vs Seth Rollins

This will be a fun and very brutal match. Mercury will get an RKO. Everyone loves that.

Prediction: Orton’s wins but I don’t think this will be the only time we see Seth Rollins tonight.

AJ Lee/Paige vs The Bella Twins

With the #GiveDivasAChance movement, I believe we will see this match get as much time as an NXT Divas match.

Prediction: Bella Twins

 Undertaker vs Bray Wyatt

I can’t wait to see this match. I can’t wait to see how Undertaker will perform after being dominated by Brock Lesnar last year. Wyatt has been amazing building up this match. I would love to see them form an alliance and bring back The Ministry Of Darkness. Oooh.

Prediction: Undertaker

 Sting vs Triple H

Triple H’a entrance will be something like always. I hear that it will be inspired by the new Terminator movie. If it is, oh boy I can’t wait. Stinger splash and a ton of wooooos filling up Levi Stadium is something I’ve waited 14+ years to see at Wrestlemania.

Prediction: Sting

 WWE Intercontinental Ladder Match

Wade Barrett (Champion) vs R-Truth vs Dean Ambrose vs Luke Harper vs Dolph Ziggler vs Stardust vs Daniel Bryan

Ladder matches are so rough. Just remember the Harper/Ziggler ladder match at TLC this past year. I believe we will see the match ending with Dolph Ziggler and Daniel Bryan fighting at the top of the ladder for the belt.

Prediction: Daniel Bryan

Got to go with the favorite on this one. The Yes chants will erupt the stadium.

 United States Title Match

Rusev (Champion) vs John Cena

No high flying. This match needs to be brutal. This needs to be a war. Like Rocky vs Drago. How great would an 80’s training montage during the build be? Cena ripping up the Rusev picture. Awesome.

Prediction: John Cena

Cena will need to knock out Rusev to win with. No tapping out Rusev.

 WWE World Heavyweight Title

Brock Lesnar (Champion) vs Roman Reigns

And now……The Main Event

Brock Lesnar re-signing made predicting this very difficult. We are going to see Brock Lesnar dominating but Roman Reigns is going to earn his main event spot. Everyone is talking about a possible Heyman double cross, I don’t believe it will happen.

Seth Rollins will appear but I don’t know if he will cash in his Money In The Bank briefcase. If he does, awesome.

Prediction: Brock Lesnar

He’s a beast and all the media outlets are watching this match. They will need a tank to take him down.

Those are my predictions. Enjoy the show & save the “Worst Mania Ever” until it’s over.

Who The Hell Is Mark Broussard?

Silhouette-question-mark

I guess this is where I write my introduction for this site. Most people already know me from my facebook, twitter, and my previous home on AGRadioPhilly.

It all started as a parody of ESPN announcer Chris Broussard. But quickly expanded due to my love of watching and talking about sports.

So now I decided to give my extra long commentary, that I cant really put on facebook or twitter, a new home.  A one stop shop for people who like sports, including wrestling.

Enjoy.
